United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Strmer and Ukrainian President Volodmir Zelenski agreed to maintain “intense work” with international partners to progress in the next planning steps to “ensure fair and lasting peace in Ukraine”. The meeting between the leaders took place this Saturday, 26, in Rome.
“The leaders agreed to talk again at the nearest opportunity,” said a Downing Street spokesman in a statement.
Zelensky also met with Emmanuel Macron, president of France, who classified the meeting as “a very positive conversation.”
“Ukraine is ready for an unconditional ceasefire,” said the French on social networks. “President Zelensky reaffirmed this to me today. He wants to work alongside Americans and Europeans to make it happen,” the post added.
According to Macron, now it is up to Russian President Vladimir Putin to prove that he really wants peace.
“We will continue our efforts within the coalition of those who are favorable [ao fim da guerra]launched in Paris in March last year, ”says the president of France, signaling the desire to“ reach a ceasefire and a complete and lasting peace in Ukraine ”.
