Former Coach and candidate for mayor of São Paulo in 2024 was also fined R $ 420 thousand for crimes of misuse of media and illicit spending
The businessman and former Coach (PRTB), who was a candidate for the city of São Paulo in the 2024 elections, was convicted by the Electoral Court for abuse in last year’s campaign. Judge Antonio Maria Patiño Zorz, from the 1st Electoral Zone of São Paulo, ordered Marçal to pay a fine of R $ 420 thousand and to be ineligible for 8 years.
The conviction is for improper use of the media, capture and illicit costs of resources, as well as abuse of economic power. It is the 2nd time Marçal is sentenced to become ineligible – relete (February 2025 is the same judge).
The action that resulted in the conviction was filed by the PSB, who had launched the deputy (PSB) in the state capital.
Marçal was accused of encouraging voters to publicize excerpts from his campaign videos in exchange for remuneration, a practice prohibited by electoral legislation.
“Since the beginning of the campaign, we warned that Marçal’s performance had not to do with merit, but with illegality. While others were silent, for fear or interest, we denounced and brought the case to justice,” Said the federal deputy in the X (former Twitter).
Marçal denies the accusations and stated that his defense will appeal.
“This decision is temporary. We have fulfilled all legal requirements during the campaign. I trust in court and I am sure we will reverse,” said the businessman.
