Entrepreneurship Minister, Microenterprise and Small Business, Márcio França (PSB), said on Saturday, 26, that he intends to dispute the government of São Paulo in 2026. Alongside Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), France said he has already communicated his intention to compete internally, but still awaiting the approval of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The statements were made during a speech at the PSB State Congress, held at the São Paulo Legislative Assembly (Alesp).
“Of course we are part of a federal government today. I am minister and I am waiting for President Lula, as he sees the picture. He is still making his national arrangements, but I have the impression that he walks to an agreement,” he said.
At another point in the speech, during an event that had as a backdrop of the election of the new PSB state directory, France spoke again about the 2026 dispute. “Look, pre-candidate, you really have a period, which is from next year. But the desire to compete in the election I have. I already communicated this to everyone internally in the party,” he said.
As Estadão/Broadcast showed, France is considered the most likely name to compete for the São Paulo executive for the political field of President Lula. Petista’s allies say that a possible statement of the pessebist was well received during a dinner with PT deputies in Brasilia, held about a month ago.

France has been confident and believes there are chances of victory, especially if the current governor, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), chooses to run for the presidency of the Republic. In this scenario, the opposition works with the possibility of the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), to be launched as a ruling candidate for the Bandeirantes Palace.

With 61% approval and 41% of reviews as great or good among Paulistanos, according to a survey Datafolha released on April 10, Tarcísio is considered a too strong opponent case to seek reelection in the state. Still, the calculation made by the opposition is that Lula will need a robust stage in Sao Paulo to overcome the national election again. Márcio França, in turn, would be willing to face the mission.

The institute’s survey also showed that the vice president and former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) is the strongest name of the opposition against Tarcisio and appears first in a scenario without the governor of the dispute. But there are two obstacles: the lack of signs of Alckmin’s desire to compete and his eventual removal of the face -to -face plate is seen as a “dismay” to his name and his party, faithful to Lula, within the PSB.

In addition to Alckmin and France, other heavy names of the PSB also participated in the event, such as the mayor of Recife, João Campos, and the federal deputy Tabata Amaral.
