Musicians claim that separation occurs by ‘natural causes’; geographical distance contributed to the gradual removal and the formation of new musical bonds
The duo announced on Saturday (26) the official dissolution of the group, after more than five decades of trajectory. In a statement released on social networks, Luiz Carlos Sá and Guttamberg Guarabyra reported that the separation occurs by “natural causes”, without disagreements or fights. According to the musicians, the fact that they have resided for years in different states contributed to the gradual removal and the formation of new musical bonds with local partners. Despite the decision, Sá & Guarabyra will still make four presentations already scheduled, between May 31 and September 25, in, (Greater ABC), and Itajaí, in the interior of Santa Catarina.
The partnership began in 1971, on the Trio Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra, alongside Zé Rodrix (1947–2009), and consolidated as a duo in 1974. Together, they were pioneers of the genre known as Rural Rock and marked Brazilian popular music with hits such as “Sobradinho” and “Spanish”, from the album “Pirão de Fish with Pimenta”of 1977.
The pair also had a strong presence in novel soundtracks. They signed and interpreted topics such as “Roque Santeiro” and “Truths and Lies”, as well as being the authors of the song “Dona”, popularized by the Nova Group. In 1990, they stood out again on the trail of the soap opera “Pantanal” with the song “Estrela Nature”.
