The incident has occurred a few hours after the parliamentary elections that will be held this Monday in Canada. The country’s political leaders, with Prime Minister Mark Carney at the head, have begun to give their condolences. The Carney Rival, Pierre Poilievre, has declared himself “shocked by the terrible news that emerged from the Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver tonight.”
In the first press conference after the incident, the chief acting of the Vancouver police, Steve Rai, has identified the detainee as a man in his 30s, known by the security forces “under certain circumstances.” Rai did not want to realize an exact number of victims because they have been “sent to different hospitals in the region.”
