Musician had been hospitalized in March, but was discharged and returned to the hospital after his health deteriorated; circumstances that have led to death are being investigated
Gutto Xibatada, singer of Forró do, died on April 22, at the age of 39. The artist had been diagnosed with (MPOX) in March and, after a period of isolation, was discharged hospital. His health, however, deteriorated quickly, leading him to return to the emergency room on the same day of his death, where he died about eight hours after admission. Gutto’s sister used social networks to express their sadness and indignation, emphasizing the lack of respect for family grief. She pointed out that the singer did not want his health condition to be publicly disclosed and that his situation worsened alarmingly, causing much suffering before his death.
“We are going through a very difficult and delicate moment. In the midst of so much pain we are having to face posts wanting to benefit from likes, views, things that have nothing to do. They are not respecting our grief, our loss,” he said. “By my brother’s requests, he didn’t want to expose himself. So many didn’t know. If I hadn’t died, no one would know. I came to clarify the cause. I’m tired of such a lie that they are posting there. Including from the official page, which posted a human being in the hospital. What a lack of empathy. My brother hired a virus called MPOX.”
The Belém Municipal Health Secretariat confirmed that Gutto was attended and kept in isolation, being discharged after an initial improvement. However, his clinical picture was complicated, resulting in his readmission at the hospital, where he died. The circumstances that have led to death are being investigated by the epidemiological surveillance of Belém, who is also monitoring the people who had contact with the singer, who had no symptoms. In honor of the artist, a mass will be held on April 27, a date that would coincide with its 40th anniversary.
