1st immersed tunnel in the country will have an investment of R $ 6 billion; work was presented to investors during a mission in Europe

The SP government estimates the creation of 9,000 direct and indirect jobs with the construction of the pioneering project in Brazil.

With an expected investment of R $ 6 billion, the work will be made possible through a public-private partnership (PPP), with 30 years concession, covering construction, operation and maintenance of the asset. The auction is scheduled for August 1, 2025.

The structure will be 1.5 km long, 870 meters submerged, and will consist of 6 precast concrete modules. It will feature 3 lanes by direction, one of them adaptable to the VLT (light vehicle on rails), as well as crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project, qualified in the São Paulo State Investment Partnership Program (PPI-SP), represents a milestone for the development of Baixada Santista and meets a historical demand from the region’s population.

The future dealers will be responsible for an infrastructure compatible with light vehicle traffic, trucks and public transport, without impacting the operations of the port of Santos.

During an international mission in Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway, the SP government presented the project to potential investors in meetings with mobility and engineering companies such as Ballast Nedam, Tec Tunnel, Rut, LNS, Maersk, DFDs, Sweco, Immintec and Feernn A/s.

The agenda included a technical visit to the Fehmanbelt tunnel, between and Germany, international reference in immersed tunnels.
