Johann Wadephul could be the first Foreign Minister of the CDU in 60 years if Friedrich Merza’s government nominates him for this post.
The new German Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Friedrich Merz’s deissa could become a conservative politician Johann Wadephul of the Christian Democrats (CDU). On Sunday, several German media reported by DPA, TASR writes.
Table Media was the first information. If Wadephul (62) became the new head of German diplomacy, he would be the first CDU Foreign Minister for the past 60 years.
Conservative politician has been a member of the Federal Assembly since 2009. He comes from the Land State of Schleswig-Holstein. He was a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs as well as part of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and NATO.
Baerback could go to the UN
Wadephul would be replaced by Annalena Baerback, who stayed on her throughout the reign of the reigning office of Olaf Scholz. Germany plans to nominate it as the President of the UN General Assembly.
The CDU will occupy seven out of 17 ministerial positions in the new government. The same number of resorts will fit the Social Democrat (SPD) and three posts of the Bavarian Christian Social Union (CSU).
The party’s coalition agreement was concluded at the end of March. It still has to approve the CDU at the party conference and SPD through the choice of its membership. Other important government posts are expected to be presented on Monday.
