During the government of Joe Biden (Democratic Party), in 2021, along with Colombo’s Day. The change sought to recognize the impact of colonization on indigenous populations, but generated controversy.
Woke Culture
Since resumed the presidency on January 20, 2025, Trump has intensified the speech against the call “Woke Culture” and revoked diversity and inclusion policies implemented by previous administrations.
The term “Woke”-of the English “Wake”, wake up-came up as an alert within the American black community to the need to combat racism and other forms of injustice. However, over the past decade, the expression has been used more broadly and often pejorative to refer to movements linked to identity causes.
In his first months of government, Trump issued several executive orders (US presidential decrees) to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the federal level, and presses the private sector to adopt the same posture.
