CDU published the names of candidates for ministerial positions, Johann Wadphul is to be the first Foreign Minister from the CDU in 60 years.
The German Christian Democrats (CDU), who are likely to lead the future federal government, published the names of their candidates for ministerial positions on Monday. According to the coalition agreement, the party should occupy a total of seven ministries, TASR reports according to the DPA report.
An experienced politician and lawyer Johann Wadephul should become the new German Foreign Minister. If the new head of German diplomacy confirms Bundestag, he will be the first CDU Foreign Minister for the past 60 years.
Katherina Reiche, who returns to politics after working in the energy gigante E.on, was nominated for the post of Minister of Economy.
Karsten Wildberger, manager of Karsten Wildberger, should be joined at the forefront of the newly created Ministry for Digitization and Modernization of the State. CDU Nina Warken is to become the future Minister of Health and Patrick Schiewer is likely to take over the transport department. The Ministry of Education is likely to be led by Karin Vary.

The Conservative Block (CDU together with the Bavarian Party of the Christian Social Union – CSU) agreed at a coalition agreement with the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) at the beginning of the month. The agreement must be approved by all parties, and the CDU should do so on Monday at a small party congress. The CSU management approved it in early April and the results of the SPD vote should be known on April 30.
The CDU has seven out of 17 ministerial positions in the future government. The same number will eventually be a social democrat and three posts of the Bavarian CSU. While the CDU announced the composition of its ministerial team, CSU sources for DPA said the party nominated Alexander Dobrindt as Minister of the Interior.
