The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), countered the accusations that his management has been slow to use federal resources sent to help the state after the floods of 2024. In an interview with the program Free channelFrom the Band, the governor said that the criticism from the “PT bench” is “pure politics” and “absolutely inoportion.”
The fund officially created in December last year has R $ 6.5 billion for flood work in Rio Grande do Sul. According to Eduardo Leite, the application of these resources demands a series of bureaucratic rites for being focused on complex works. “It’s a lie that the resource is stopped because the government (from RS) is not moving. It is stopped because it has a step until the execution of the works.”
The governor said that he does not accept that the federal government, that in his words “failed to build a house” after last year’s climate disaster, to criticize it for delay in complex works such as the construction of dikes, the barriers against floods. For milk, criticism aims at the 2026 electoral dispute.
