(Reuters)-Huawei Technologies is preparing to test its newest artificial intelligence microprocessor, hoping to replace some end products of US chips giant, Nvidia, published the Wall Street Journal on Sunday (27).
It approached some Chinese technology companies on the new chip’s technical feasibility tests called Ascend 910D, the report said, citing sources familiar with the subject.
The Chinese company expects the latest iteration of its Ascend Ai processors to be more powerful than the NVIDIA H100, and should receive the first batch of processor samples by the end of May, the report added.
Reuters published on Monday (28) that Huawei plans to start mass shipments of the 910C Artificial Intelligence chip for Chinese clients next month.

Seeking to restrict China’s technological development, particularly the advances aimed at the country’s armed forces, Washington Corte has prevented Nvidia from providing China more advanced AI products, including B200 processor.
The H100 chip, for example, was forbidden to sell in China in 2022 by US authorities even before it was released.
Nvidia declined to comment, while Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for commentary from Reuters.
