North Korea confirms sending troops to support Russia

Pyongyang sent about 14,000 soldiers to Ukraine; Kim Jong uniden the military who fight alongside Putin with “heroes”

North Korea confirmed on Sunday night (27.br.2025) the sending of troops to support Russia in the war against Ukraine. The decision was made by leader Kim Jong Un, within the strategic partnership treaty signed with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year, the state agency said.

The North Korean government party stated that the “victory” in the Kursk region demonstrated the “Higher strategic level” of the Military Alliance between the 2 countries. Ukraine, stating that the fighting continues.

On Saturday (26.abr), Russia also officially recognized for the first time the presence of North Korean soldiers in combat alongside its forces in Kursk. Until then, both Moscow and Pyongyang avoided confirming the shipping of military.

North Korea sent about 14,000 soldiers, including 3,000 as reinforcement to replace combat losses, according to Ukrainian authorities.

In a statement published by KCNA, Kim Jong Un said the soldiers who fought for Russia are “Heroes” and represent “And Honra da Pátria”. The North Korean regime also stated to consider “A Honor” maintain an alliance with the Russian Federation.
