According to Ukrainian sources, North Korea sent approximately 14,000 soldiers to Russia to fight side by side with Russian troops.
Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked North Korean soldiers on Monday for supporting in the fight against Kiev and the re -registration of the Kursk region occupied by Ukrainian forces. Just a few hours earlier, Pyongyang for the first time confirmed that he had sent his troops to Russia. According to AFP and AP reports, TASR reports this.
Putin appreciated the “heroism” of members of the North Korean army who fought “side by side with Russian soldiers and defended our homeland as their own”.
“Korean friends acted under the leadership of the feelings of solidarity, justice and real friendship … We appreciate it very much and we are deeply grateful (North Korean leader) Kim Jong-Unnu personally … and the North Korean people,” Putin quoted.
North Korea for the first time confirmed on Sunday that its troops supported Russia in his war against Ukraine. According to the KCNA State Press Agency, Kim Jong-un has been taken by Kim Jong in accordance with the Mutual Defense Agreement between the DPRK and Russia, KCNA added.
Russia confirmed that North Korean soldiers fought together with its troops in the Kursk region, for the first time last Saturday. Both countries have not yet confirmed or denied their deployment.
