A massive power outage was hit by Portugal, Spain and part of France, millions of people have remained without energy.
In Portugal, Spain and some parts of France, they recorded a massive power outage on Monday. Without energy, several million people are supposed to be problems with the European electric network, TASR writes, according to Reuters and AP, Sky News and Euronews.
Almost all large Portuguese and Spanish cities, including Lisbon, Seville, Barcelona or Valencia at approximately 12.30 am, hit almost all the large Portuguese and Spanish cities. Local media in Madrid and Barcelona report on traffic jams for the non -functioning traffic lights and evacuation of some underground metro stations. The outage was also affected by a small part of France and Andorra. The cause of the failure is not yet known.
The Spanish energy company Red Eléctrica claims that it cooperates with other energy companies to restore electricity supply. The Portuguese E-Redes energy distributor claims that the outage was caused by a “problem with the European electrical system” and had to disconnect some of the non-affected parts of the country for the network stabilization. Neither mobile networks nor telephone lines did short in the countries.
