Spielberg honors Coppola and describes “the godfather” as the best US film

Los Angeles-The US directors Steven Spielberg (78) and George Lucas (80) presented their colleague Francis Ford Coppola (86) the renowned AFI Prize for his life’s work. Coppola is “fearless”, said Spielberg, according to US media reports, said at the Gala of the American Film Institute (AFI) Dolby Theater in Hollywood, where the Oscars are also awarded. “In one hand you are a fighter for independent artists, you always support them, but you are also fearless how you open up for ideas, opinions and inspiration.”
