Parliamentarians filed a popular action with the objective of paralyzing the project; They claim that the machinery began to break the concrete under the high without debating with the population
The City of São Paulo began this Monday (28), a work to open a parking pocket under the elevated João Goulart, known as Minhocão, in the center of the capital. The measure, according to Deputy Mayor Ricardo Mello Araújo (PL), is made to serve local residents and traders, “but especially,” he says, to end the disposal of irregular waste that occurs “under the high. The place is also usually used and frequented by homeless people.
The municipal executive says in a statement that the pocket will be implemented experimentally at the beginning, and only in a single stretch. The bike path that exists on site will remain, but with adjustments to adapt to the new geometry. The execution of the works also has the support of the Engineering and Traffic Company () and the Municipal Secretariat of Subprefectures.
“The idea is to see if it would work for people, with the cars parked here, if it ended this irregular disposal of garbage that occurs. We will do a test. What is not possible to leave the way it is: this worm every time dirty,” said the deputy mayor in a video published on his social networks. “People could neither walk nor bikes or passers-by. This is a (project) pilot. Only in this stretch here. Let’s see if it works,” added the deputy mayor. The mayor (MDB) is traveling in Asia, visiting and the, and is expected to return this Thursday (1).
Councilors enter action to paralyze the works
Councilman Nabil Bonduki (PT) stated on social networks that he and councilor Renata Falzoni (PSB) filed a popular action against the city to paralyze the works performed at the time of number 370 of Amaral Gurgel Street, in Vila Buarque. Parliamentarians claim that the machinery began to break the concrete under the worm without discussing with the population via municipal traffic and participatory transport councils, and without technical evaluation and site drainage studies.
Bonduki says the measure could more aggravate congestion in the region because, to use the pocket, it will be necessary to “cross the bus corridor to maneuver”, and states that the proposal “contrary the principles of the director plan” as it encourages the use of cars. “With popular action, we want to paralyze this absurd work, encouraging that there is a public debate and a better analysis of the real need for this public money expenditure,” says the councilman.
