If the diploma has been synonymous with guaranteed success, the technology market is resignifying this logic. In times of artificial intelligence and accelerated innovation, companies in the sector are prioritizing something more valuable than straw: the ability to solve real problems.

Artificial intelligence has gone to the taste of Brazilians – either to create memes on social networks or gain more productivity at work. A Google survey in partnership with Ipsos revealed that 54% of Brazilians stated that they used Generative AI tools in 2024, while the global average was 48%.
Although these new technologies are causing changes in all areas of the economy and social spheres, there is no way to unleash this theme from its origin sector: the job market in Tech. “Today, the sector is very warm, especially with the advance of artificial intelligence,” said Leonardo Matsumota, Business Development from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in a Interview transmitted by XP Education. “Companies want professionals who deliver results, with or without diploma.”
This market change results in a break from several paradigms. If in the past, the teaching institution’s diploma and renowned were decisive to get a job vacancy today, practical education proves to be a strong tendency. “It’s not about where you studied, but what you deliver. We look at portfolio, projects, adaptability. This really weighs,” says Veridiana Bicalho, Human Resources Manager at XP Education.

Among the topics most discussed at the meeting was the role of soft skillsthe so -called interpersonal skills in the current technological context. For Fernanda Campos, Head of Educational at XP Education, the ideal combo of a tech professional involves much more than knowing how to program.
“A developer who dominates code but does not know how to communicate or work in a team will hardly prosper in a complex project. Today we seek a more complete professional with technical and emotional repertoire,” he said.

Leonardo added with a warning: “Anyone who wants to grow in technology needs to have constant learning. Innovation does not stop, and who does not follow is behind.”

Although more flexible in relation to diplomas, the Tech market imposes new challenges. One is the active management of their own formation. “You can no longer expect knowledge to be packaged in a traditional course,” commented Veridiana. “You have to go after it, whether it’s doing free courses, exploring communities, experimenting.”
