A 37-year-old woman owner of a pension in the Campos Elíseos neighborhood, central São Paulo, was arrested on Monday for drug trafficking and disobedience.
The action is an unfolding of investigations into the use of region hotels and pensions by criminal organizations for trafficking and money laundering.
During the approach, military police seized with the suspicion of crack portions, precision scales, cell phones and more than $ 1,400 in kind. She tried to escape when she realized the presence of the teams, taking a backpack with the material, but was arrested and sent to the 3rd Police District (Campos Elíseos), where she remained in prison.
The pension had already been interdicted in court in August 2024, during Operation Downtown – Integrated Action of the Civil and Military Police, Municipal Guard and Public Prosecution Service – for functioning as a trafficking point, narcotics use and money laundering. Even so, the place was reopened irregularly.
Earlier this month, on April 1, the receptionist of the same property was arrested in the act with drugs hidden on a sofa and large amount of money. Four days earlier, agents of the 3rd DP found that the property operated without municipal license and in unhealthy conditions.
The arrest of the pension owner reinforces the evidence that the site is part of a collaborative network of lodging involved in illicit activities.
Since the beginning of Operation Downtown, in June 2024, five phases have been triggered, with 180 search and seizure warrants and 53 people arrested. Most shares focused on the center of the capital, at establishments used to give the appearance of legality to trafficking resources.
