PF holds 23 in operation against international trafficking with sailboats

Warrants are fulfilled in 5 states and abroad; Justice blocks R $ 1.32 billion in goods

The Federal Police arrested 23 suspects until 8 am on Monday (29.ab.2025) during Operation Narco Vela, which investigates a criminal organization specializing in drug sending to Africa and Europe through ocean boats and sailboats.

The action takes place in 5 Brazilian states and in countries abroad, with support from over 300 federal police and 50 military police from São Paulo.

The investigation began after communication from (Drug Encarcement Administration), which reported on the seizure of 3 tons of cocaine in February 2023. The cargo was in a Brazilian sailboat intercepted by the US Navy near the African continent.

Other loads were also seized by the Spanish Civil Guard and the French Navy.

4 pre -trial arrest warrants were issued – one in São Sebastião (SP) and three abroad, USA, Italy and Paraguay. There are also 31 temporary arrest warrants in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Pará and Santa Catarina, as well as 62 search and seizure warrants.

The Federal Court ordered the blockade and seizure of assets up to R $ 1.32 billion. Investigators may be responsible for international drug trafficking, association for trafficking and criminal organization.
