Meeting was articulated with the objective of presenting the Brazilian oil sector and attracting infrastructure investments
The Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, met with Chinese entrepreneurs in Beijing on Monday (28.br.2025). The meeting aimed to present the oil and gas sector in Brazil to possible investors and attract resources to other infrastructure projects.
One of the focus of the presentation of Brazilian representatives was the naval sector and the potential for expansion of shipyards in the country. Currently, China is one of the largest exponents in the naval construction sector and Chinese shipyards have already built vessels that are operating by the state oil company.
In his presentation, Chambriard invited Chinese businessmen to visit shipyards in Brazil. The intention is to make China build ships in Brazilian facilities.
“We understand that there are opportunities for Chinese companies to work in partnership with Brazilian shipyards and we believe that the increase in our cooperation will benefit our countries. We have come to reinforce our cooperation ties and propose new business”.said Chambriard.
The President of Transpetro – Subsidiary of Petrobras in the Naval Sector – Sérgio Bacci was also present at the meeting. The executive told the Chinese guests that the company plans to hire 25 ships by 2030 and that hiring vessels produced in Brazilian shipyards will be prioritized.
“We have idle shipyards in Brazil and it would be important to build new trading and technological partnerships. In line with the public policies of the Brazilian government to stimulate ships in Brazil, we reinforce the invitation to the set of entrepreneurs so that they can evaluate the opportunities we have in the sector.”declared the executive.
Railway
On the same day, Costa also met with representatives of China Railway – Chinese Starter of Railway Transport -, CRRC – Failure of Railway Equipment – and the Institute of Economic Research and Railway Planning of China. The agenda was the search for investments in the Brazilian rail sector.
“For the Brazilian government and President Lula is essential to invest in infrastructure and logistics from the use of various modes, but with the flagship the rail modal”said Costa.
The visit of Costa and the Brazilian entourage to China is to trim the edges in negotiations with the Chinese government and businessmen of the country. The idea is to make agreements of agreements when the president (PT) visits the Asian country on May 12.
Costa will be in China until Wednesday (30.abr). In addition to Chambriard and Bacci, they also accompanied the meetings:
- Thiago Barral, Secretary of Energy Transition and Planning of the Ministry of Mines and Energy;
- Leonardo Ribeiro, National Secretary of Railway Transport of the Ministry of Transport; and
- Uallace Moreira, Secretary of Industrial Development, Innovation, Commerce and Services of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce.
