The US has lost seven MQ-9 DRAPER drones and f/A-18E Super Hornet worth tens of millions of dollars during operations against Húsi in Yemen.
The United States has lost the latest wave of strokes to the positions of Yemen’s Hurfish insurgents, by seven multi-purpose MQ-9 Reaper drones worth several tens of million dollars. Another loss was recorded on Monday by the US Navy, whose fighter fell from the aircraft carrier to the Red Sea, TASR reports, referring to AFP.
“Since March 15, we lost seven MQ-9,” AFP quoted an American representative who did not want to be named. He did not specify what caused these losses. He added that the last occurred on April 22.
The unmanned MQ-9 Reaper is primarily designed to destroy mobile ground targets, but thanks to the entire range of sensors and communication tools, it is also used for research. The US uses them to identify and focus on the weapon systems of the bodies to attack ships in the Red Sea. One piece costs around $ 33 million (€ 29 million).
In an incident with a f/A-8E Super Hornet fighter on board USS Harry S. Truman suffered injuries one soldier. At that time, the aircraft was connected to the rope to the tow vehicle when it was released and fell along with it. As this happened, it is investigated. One aircraft of this type costs over $ 67 million (over € 58 million)
The central command of the US armed forces (Centcom) on Sunday said that US forces in Yemen have so far affected more than 800 goals and killed hundreds of Húsi, including members of their leadership.
Iran’s supporting Húsia began to attack commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden at the end of 2023 as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where Israel launched an extensive military operation, responding to an unprecedented attack of the Hamas militant movement to his territory of 7 October.
The US started attacks on Húsia as President Joe Biden. His successor Donald Trump said that a military operation will continue until they were a threat to shipping.
