São Paulo (Reuters)-União Brasil and PP announced a party federation between the two acronyms on Monday night that will be the largest political force in the National Congress with 109 deputies and 14 senators, the two acronyms said.
With the Federation, Union and PP will necessarily have to be in the same plates in next year’s elections for the presidency, the governments of the states and the Congress and are also necessarily together in the 2028 municipal elections.
“The alliance, sewn with a lot of dialogue and confidence, aims to be a compass at the center of politics, to boost Brazil in the right direction. The North is clear: balance and innovation, with fiscal and social responsibility,” says note from the two subtitles.
Both União and PP have ministries in the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. At the same time, the two parties also have clearly opposed figures to Lula, such as PP President Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), ally of former President Jair Bolsonaro, and Goiás Governor Ronaldo Caiado (União), who launched pre-candidacy for the presidency.
The two parties will make a official ceremony of the federation on Tuesday afternoon at the Noble Hall of the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasilia.
