In Brasilia, Aeo officialized the creation of the Progressive Union Federation, marking a new chapter in Brazilian politics. This political alliance will consist of 109 deputies in the House of Representatives and 14 senators, as well as 1,400 mayors and about 12,000 councilors across the country. The officialization ceremony is expected to take place at 15h in the House of Representatives. The command of the Progressive Union Federation will be under the responsibility of, President of Union Brazil, and, president of the Progressives, until December 2025.
From that date, a new election will define the direction of the Federation. The negotiation for the formation of the federation involved leaders of both parties, including ACM Neto, vice president of Union Brazil, and José Agripino Maia, Senator. The federation also attracts parliamentarians awaiting officialization to migrate from party, which can further increase its political influence.
In addition to the progressive union, another political fusion is underway. The PSDB and Somos are in negotiations to form a federation, with a meeting scheduled for this Tuesday (29) between the directories of the two parties. The PSDB faces an internal crisis, marked by the possible departure of the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, and the difficulty in renewing his paintings. The Federation with Somos is seen as an attempt for survival and political strengthening, aiming at the 2026 elections.
