The “Domingão Tarifa Zero” program, which completed 500 days of implementation, has been a resounding success among passengers, reaching an impressive 97.5%approval rate. This innovative program allows public transport users to move free on Sundays and on some selected holidays. A recent research stressed that Ibirapuera Park is the most popular destination among the program’s beneficiaries, who take advantage of gratuity for leisure activities, religious events and family visits.
Since its launch in December 2023, “Domingão Tarifa Zero” has served more than 215 million users. This initiative has provided a significant economy for many families from São Paulo, allowing them to enjoy the weekend exploring the city without the cost of transport tariffs. The survey revealed that 70% of users use the program for leisure activities, stressing the importance of the program for the social and economic welfare of citizens of São Paulo. In addition to Sundays, the zero rate is applied to some selected holidays, as announced by the official channels of the São Paulo City Hall.
