The advisor to international matters of the Presidency of the Republic, Celso Amorimsaid on Tuesday (29) that the importance of multilateralism will be the main message of Brazil for the meeting of national security advisers of Brics.

“I think the fundamental message is the defense of multilateralism. There is no peace, there is no free trade and no prosperity if there is no multilateral system,” he said.

Amorim cited important actions in the World Trade Organization (WTO) against foreign subsidies, such as cotton against the United States and sugar against the European Union, as well as the defense of the use of generic drugs in combating AIDS.

The ambassador stated that the group should also deal with the themes of peace and international security. On Tuesday, Amorim met with representatives from China and said the countries reaffirmed a joint understanding of the Ukraine war.

Brazil understands that a mediation for peace and conciliation between Russia and Ukraine is necessary.

“Let’s also talk about the joint understanding with China, because it is not a banal thing. How many times Brazil has had a joint understanding with a permanent member Security Council [da ONU] About an international security issue? ”He said.

On Wednesday (30), Brazil will be host of the meeting of BRICS National Security advisors.

This is one of the meetings that brings together representatives of member countries to discuss strategic topics and prepare the way for the Block’s head of heads, which will be in November in Rio de Janeiro.
