Half of the considers that the training he receives to exercise teaching is insufficient – a little more than a third that thinks otherwise, and 15% who replies that he does not know or prefers not to answer the question. A similar percentage, 49.5%, many times or always – in this last step there is no less than 29% of private education teachers, compared to 16% of those of the public.

Despite this, three out of four teachers declare themselves satisfied with their trade, and only 7% think to abandon it. The data, together with many others, are part of the survey published on Wednesday by the Federation of Teaching of Workers’ Commissions, which has been prepared by the demometric firm and is based on 1,042 interviews with children of children, primary, ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.

The survey reflects that a forceful 80% of public education professionals consider that “a systematic assessment of teachers should be used to determine their promotion to other educational positions.” 64% believe that this system should be used to “adjust remuneration.” And 62.5%, to “propose, where appropriate, the appropriate sanctions.”

The preferred formula to carry out this assessment is the “teachers’ interviews with the evaluation team” (records a 69%support). But most are also shown according to “reports of the evaluation team on the work of the evaluated teachers” (60%), or “visits in class times” (56%). Seven out of ten also think that the work “of teachers and management teams should voluntarily assess.

Teachers are a central element in the quality of an educational system, despite which studies and surveys centered on them have traditionally been scarce in Spain. . Its publication has coincided with the beginning of the negotiation between the Ministry of Education and the teaching unions. An objective announced and postponed several times in recent decades.

The establishment of some systematic assessment formula of the teaching work, such as the one that proposes to the interviewees the CC OO survey, which serves as a reference for professional progression, is one of the elements that is on the negotiating table. As well as the reduction of the number of students per classroom. The current size of the classes – now there may be up to 25 kids in primary, 30 in ESO and 35 in high school, and communities can exceed said limit alleging exceptional situations – it is unsatisfactory for the majority (54.5%) of teachers. And it probably is not for more because the decline of the school population.

Tutoring period

The vast majority of teachers (84%) are in favor of the initial training has “a structure with wide tutoring and remunerated practices.” Three out of four believe that universities must introduce changes to adapt the formation of future teachers “to the needs of their job.”

The maintenance of the Master of Secondary Teacher Training receives support of 51% (and only 48% among public education professionals). While 49.2% of teachers consider insufficient training received in methodology and didactics to exercise their work. And 42.2% also consider incomplete the formation received in disciplinary content.

Their working conditions are, in general, acceptable. 73% are satisfied with their day. 59%, with their remuneration. And 83% with “the treatment of gender issues.” Almost all teachers (93%) believe that the school day concentrated in the morning or continuous is “positive or very positive” for teachers themselves. And a clear majority (85.5%) considers that it is also for students and even for families (73.2%).

Your relationship with students

Faced with the image that sometimes moves, 93.5% of teachers declare themselves satisfied or very satisfied with the relationship they have with students. 94.5% consider their relationship with colleagues positive, and 78%, the one with the students of the students. In the case of the relationship with the educational inspection, only 49% of the teachers declare themselves satisfied with it “one of four responds” that does not know “, which according to the report is probably due to the fact that they have no deal with them.

Less than half of the public teachers are satisfied with their relationship with the educational administration (normally synonymous with the Ministry of Education). And 27% of private teachers consider “unsatisfactory or very unsatisfactory” (the data, for some reason, it has not been included for those of the public).

Pay more in complex centers

As for the tools they have and the spaces with which they work, only 56% claim to be satisfied with physical infrastructure; 65%, with didactic resources and materials, and 67.5% with Wi -Fi connections. Virtually all (94%) support that they are introduced or improved.

The survey asks teachers for some of the changes that the current educational law brought. A third or more respond to this whole block of questions that do not know or prefer not to answer, a high percentage that is probably explained by the fact that it does not affect the stage they teach. 46% agree that it leads to obtaining the ESO title (only 18% is against). But only 32% seem good to diagnostic evaluations, implemented in 4th grade and 2nd ESO to know the level of competitions of the kids, while 36.5% are against.
