Indian Prime Minister Narendra Monti has given the armed forces of his country the “operational freedom” to respond as they consider the attack that left 26 dead in Indian Kashmir, a government source said today.
During a meeting with army leader, Monty reiterated that his country, accusing Pakistan of the attack, was “determined to have a decisive blow to terrorism,” the source told the French Bureau, speaking on the condition that it not be named.
The Kashmir attack caused a outcry in India – a country where the Hindus is a majority – and some voices were heard calling for action against Muslim Pakistan.
New Delhi accuses Pakistan of supporting Kashmir’s separatists, an area claimed by both countries and have fought twice with each other to control each other.
Yesterday, Pakistan’s Defense Minister warned that a military invasion from neighboring India was “overwhelming” as tensions between the two nuclear forces are increasing.
Members of the Armed Forces of India and Pakistan have exchanged fire in the area in recent days.
