The construction of the new National Hospital of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik in Bratislava, according to Defense Minister Robert Kaliňák (Smer-SD), will take place as standard. The Minister informed about this before Wednesday’s meeting of the government in Malá Lehota in the Žarnovica district.
“Just as we compete Prešov, where the competition, which is public, will end at the moment, it will be in this case and I think that there will be a separate competition of medical technology, there will be a separate competition competition, so you will see all these competitions,” Kaliňák said.
The exception will be the construction of the underground safety base, which will be military. “We will create a security base in which we need to place things that are missing from the Ministry of Defense in the capital for a long time And we do not have them in the defense infrastructure, ”the minister said.
The fact that the defense department will be involved in the construction of the hospital is perceived as an advantage for several reasons. He pointed out that the ministry can apply the project of the Prešov hospital in Bratislava, which is currently building. “These are months, maybe years that we can save,” noted. He also highlighted the experience of the Ministry of Defense (MO), who has already built one hospital and is working on the other.
It also sees the advantage that the land is owned by the Ministry of Defense. “The fact that we rule the land, that we can start immediately, that there is no need to buy, to do complicated exproprian procedures And it is in accordance with the zoning plan of Bratislava, I consider it a saving of at least one to two years, ”he added.
In terms of location, Kaliňák considers the great advantage that the hospital will be directly available to people coming from the East. Likewise, it will be easily accessible to the Bratislava citizens. The Minister of Defense expects that this year will start building the foundations of the hospital. He said it could take several months. In 2026, he said the construction of a rough construction could begin. He thinks the hospital could be built earlier than in 2030. At the same time, he admitted that every plan could be complicated.
According to the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic Kamil Šaška (voice-SD), it is not important whether the hospital will be built in 2030 or earlier. “The important thing is that this model provides the opportunity to build a new national hospital within a much shorter period than other variations,” stressed.
At the same time, he refused to criticize the opposition targeted that the project is associated with the Ministry of Defense. He pointed out that the sources of the Ministry of Health do not allow such a project to be implemented. “Therefore, I am looking for all the possibilities, whether from the plan of renewal or dual use with the ultimate goal, to build a new national hospital,” He added Šaško. He also stressed that they were acting together as a government.
