Pakistan warns of a possible Indian attack in Kashmir, which can come within 36 hours. The tension between countries escalates after a recent attack on tourists.
Pakistani Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar said at night on Wednesday that Islamabad has “trusted news information” that India is planning a military attack in connection with the recent attack in the disputed region of Kashmir. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.
The Minister stated in his statement that India “intends to carry out a military attack over the next 24 to 36 hours, using the attack in Phalgame as a false excuse”.
Escalation between India and Pakistan
“We will definitely respond to every act of aggression. India will be fully responsible for any serious consequences in the region!” Added Tarar.
26 tourists died in the aforementioned last week’s attack in India’s disputed region. Pakistan and India have introduced several measures against each other after the attack. Pakistan concluded its airspace for Indian airlines and India suspended the validity of the 1960 contract, which regulates the common use of water from the Indus River and its tributaries. Since then, soldiers of both countries have also been fired along the militarized border in Kashmir.
Historical conflicts
Since the announcement of independence in 1947, Pakistan and India have been three wars. Two of them concerned Kashmir’s disputed territory, which they divided and both make claims to the whole area. In the Indian Union State of Jammia and Kashmir, inhabited mostly by Muslims, has been running an armed uprising against the Indian government since 1989.
