A México Women’s League Mazatlán player was suspended for six years for “possible handling” at the Clausura-2025 Tournament, announced on Tuesday (29) the Disciplinary Commission of the Local Football Federation (FMF).
In a statement, the Disciplinary Committee reported that after conducting “a detailed investigation into possible match manipulation” against several Mazatlán players, he decided to “sanction a player with a six -year suspension of any soccer -related professional activity.”
The commission did not disclose the name of the sanctioned player, but stated that it granted “the parties involved the right to an audience.”
The body based its decision on the FMF sanctions regulation, the FIFA Code of Ethics and the FMF Code of Ethics.
The FMF Code of Ethics establishes in its article 11, regarding “manipulation of results and bets”, that all members of this organization “must abstain from any conduct or behavior that harms or may impair the integrity of matches.”
On April 11, FMF announced the beginning of an investigation against Mazatlán players after videos and conversations came on social networks where athletes allegedly received instructions during the break of a match to provide a defeat by their team’s rout.
According to press reports, one of the fraudulent matches was against Guadalajara, who ended in an 8-0 defeat to Mazatlán on February 2, in the sixth round of the tournament.
The first half of this match ended 1 to 0 against Mazatlán. In the second half, they conceded four goals in a 17 -minute interval (from 47 to 64) and three goals more in 14 minutes (from 73 to 87).
Some Mexican sports communication vehicles accused four players to participate in this match manipulation: goalkeeper María Tarango, defenders Ana Becerra and Brenda García, and midfielder Olga Trasviña.
