Putin drones approach the border and force NATO combat planes to take off

NATO forces sent the morning from Monday to Tuesday four combat planes after Russia launched long -range drones near the border of Ukraine with Romania, as reported by the US media .

Romania is investigating whether a Russian drone crossed up to 500 meters the NATO airspace “for a very short period of time,” Bucharest’s Ministry of Defense said Tuesday.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine ordered by the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, in February 2022, Russian drones have several times to the NATO territory, and also on several occasions fragments in Romania have been found.

NATO members have the collective obligation to respond with all their force to attacks against the nations of the Alliance. So far, drones and missiles that enter the NATO airspace have not been considered attacks against the alliance, but the Romanian and Polish authorities have repeatedly deployed aircraft due to the air attacks in Moscow against Ukraine.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, said previously that the Russian attacks that extend to NATO nations are a “clear reminder that Russia’s aggressive actions extend beyond Ukraine.”

The Romanian government said Tuesday that its army had activated an air alert in its southeast region of Tulcea after the Kremlin launched a “series of drones attacks against civil goals and port infrastructure” in western Ukraine.

Two Romanian F-16 combat aircraft took off from an air base southwest Tulcea, and two Eurofighter Typhoon Italian aircraft left the Mihail Kogălniceanu air base, Bucharest said.
