A 56 -year -old woman lost her life in her Karabanchel neighborhood after a candle -caused fire. This is the first confirmed death, which left the entire Iberian peninsula without.
The fire began in the woman’s bedroom around 22:00 on Monday night after lit the candle and then fell asleep, resulting in her entire home burnt completely.
Firefighters rescued many of their neighbors, and thirteen people had to undergo treatment for slight tobacco poisoning, with five being taken to the hospital.
In Galicia, a married couple and their son died of inhalation of carbon monoxide in the Tampoandela of Ourense, due to a poor generator.
Emergency services confirm that they are an 81 and 77 -year -old couple and their 56 -year -old son, who were in their home on Tuesday afternoon. However, the authorities have not yet clarified whether these deaths are directly linked to the power failure.
According to a first estimate, they are believed to have put a generator into operation to connect the respiratory device used by one of the elderly.
The carbon monoxide from the dysfunctional device probably spread to the house in the following hours, without realizing the tenants.
Another patient dependent on oxygen died in Alzira, Valencia, after Monday’s mass blackout. However, the Valencia Regional Ministry of Health denied this information.
Earlier, the EFE state agency reported that a 46 -year -old, using oxygen machine, lost her life because of a power outage. Citing the Police Headquarters in Valencia, it was reported that the authorities were notified about half an hour after the blackout, police tried to bring it back for 29 minutes until medical assistance came, but their work was not crowned with success.
