Syrian security forces hit Drúzsky gunmen in Damascus, died nearly 30 people.
Syria deployed its security forces near Damascus on Wednesday to “restore security”, Sana’s state news agency reported. This step took place after the struggles between government troops and Drúzsky gunmen, writes TASR, according to the AFP report.
A representative of Syrian security forces said that the units completed the “security operation” in the area of Sahnáa near Damascus. According to him, the aim of deploying units is to restore safety and stability in the area.
In night collisions between security forces linked to the new Syrian government and Drúzsky gunmen in areas around the Syrian capital Damascus, almost 30 people died on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Defense, Jisrael Kac on Wednesday, said in a joint statement that the Israeli Military Aviation had a raid to the armed group in Syria, which were preparing to attack a minority of Drúzov. The attack in the city of Sahná is a warning for the new Syrian government.
The consequences of an Israeli attack
The Syrian government announced that one soldier died in an Israeli attack. The Syrian Human Rights Center (SOHR) claims that several people have suffered injuries in the attack, writes DPA.
Arabic-speaking Drúzov are an ethnic-religious group that separated from the Ismailite branch of Shiite Islam at the beginning of the 11th century. However, they are not considered Muslims. They live in the south of Syria, but also in the Israel -occupied Golan Heights, Israel and Lebanon.
UN calls for the end of violence
A special UN envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen condemned “unacceptable” violence in Syria and also called for an immediate stopping of Israeli air raids and protection of civilians. The Pedersen Office stated in a statement that the envoy is “concerned about the possibility of further escalation of an extremely fragile situation”.
