Two Military police were injured During an exchange of gunfire with criminals in the early hours of Wednesday (30), in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the State Department of Military Police, the confrontation occurred when teams from the 40th BPM (Campo Grande) approached a suspicious vehicle that was circulating along Avenida Brasil, at the time of Campo Grande.
According to the unit’s command, the agents tried to set up a tactical siege, but were surprised by shots made by gunmen inside the car.
There was confrontation, and the criminals managed to flee toward the Bangu neighborhood. The suspicious vehicle was located and recovered shortly afterwards by agents from the 14th BPM (Bangu), in access to the Vila Kennedy community.
During the action, two police officers were injured by firearm shots on the Mendanha Road, also in Campo Grande. They were rescued and sent to the Rocha Faria Municipal Hospital, where they received care and were released by the medical team.
The occurrence was recorded in the 35th DP (Campo Grande), and policing in the region was reinforced after the episode.
With this case, the number of security agents shot in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro rises to 47 in 2025according to data from the Fogo Cruzado Institute. Of the total, 26 could not resist the injuries and died, while 21 were injured. Among those affected, 32 were military police – of which 17 died and 15 were injured.
