On the morning of Wednesday, Nestor Susaeta, Real Oviedo player, received a message from his wife, Silvia: “I told you, that house had something.” Next to the message was the news :. A kind of “cursed house” in which the municipal police of Oviedo found on Monday three terrified kids of eight and ten years, with motor and diaper difficulties, as babies.
“We were two scarce years living there, between 2013 and 2015, we arrived with newborn babies, but there was something that I didn’t like, I didn’t let me be at ease,” says Silvia on the phone. “I would not know how to describe it: as a heavy sadness, the crystals were always fogged, that house had a very dark aura, something strange …”, says warning that she has never believed in paranormal phenomena or anything like that. In fact, he blamed all his feelings to the difficulty of adapting to change of life, of place of residence, of climate …
The house was perfectly furnished, with all the comforts and a modern decoration: “Jacuzzi in a bathroom all marble, a great wooden dressing room, the bedroom with beautiful views …, but strange things happened, all the assistants that we hired were going, there were always many crows in a cable of the light just above…, I don’t know,” he says.
At the time of living there, with a ridiculous rental of “about 1,000 euros a month in one of the most exclusive areas of Oviedo”, they learned that the owner, an architect of a family of Oviedo, had built the house and, later, had committed suicide. “His widow was renting and the father of the deceased boy, they were lovely,” says Silvia. However, the only good memory he keeps from that place they have never returned, are the Carmelite nuns of the convent, who is right in front of the house, which- “making an exception”- baptized their two twins.
“Yes, we baptized them here, and from time to time the little ones came to play in our garden,” confirms one of the nuns. “But to these new ones that came later we never saw them,” they warn.
Last Monday, in full blackout, a handful of municipal agents of the Local Police of Oviedo was registering that pink house located at number 15A on Toleo Street, in the district of Fitoria, where about 200 inhabitants reside in beautiful houses with terrified plots in the hill; disseminated, perfectly isolated from each other, and by whose labyrinthine streets – highly traveled – dozens of people of people walk up to exercise. According to his mayor, Joaquín Ruiz, defeated these days by the sorrow of not having noticed before what happened behind those careless hedges and those white metal doors that give the garden and the garage, not even his sister “who lives right in the house off, saw or heard anything ever,” he says. “We knew someone lived because from time to time you saw that some blind had moved, nothing more,” he says.
For two weeks, the agents of the Local Police of Oviedo, under the direction of the Minors Prosecutor’s Office of the Principality, remained stationed in the neighbor’s house, which gave the alarm in the form of a complaint in the social services of the City Council: “I hear screams of children from time to time, I have seen the curtains of some rooms move,” said the woman, which leads half a life residing in the area.
There were many hours of discreet surveillance, until the agents saw Christian Steffen, a 53 -year -old German, who was registered in that house since February 2022, although he had rented the house online in October 2021. They explain research sources. Days before, they had seen shadows and movements that did not correspond to the place being inhabited by a single person.
What most caught the attention of the police when Steffen on Monday gave them permission to access the house, was the fear of the children, two twins of eight years and one of 10, hooked to their mother, Melissa Ann Steffen, a 48 -year -old American woman with double German nationality. Quickly, the parents placed three masks to each of the little ones, one on top of the other, arguing that they were very sick.
“The children had motor difficulties, they carried diapers, the mother, who was the one who wore the singing voice at that time, took some German medical reports from the kids in which he said that they had been diagnosed with a deficit of attention,” sources close to the investigation count. The woman, who spoke in English, said – according to the translator who accompanied the agents – that the children did not control sphincters because they were sick and “accompanied them to the bathroom to do, holding them herself, as if they were babies, treated them as babies,” said sources in the case.
According to the translator to the agents, the mother assured that they requested to educate her children at her home in Germany, but they did not allow it, and that was when they decided to move to Spain, coinciding with the pandemic … but the family has remained confined since then until last Monday. “She, although she was also baffled, in a way, seemed relieved,” said sources in the case.
Large amounts of medicines of all kinds, supposedly bought by the Internet, dozens of jelly jars, and huge amounts of garbage that accumulated in the hole of the staircase that climbed to the second floor, caught the attention of the agents as soon as they access the house. “Bags and bags, as if they were thrown from above and never took them out to the street,” the same sources tell. “They had no television, or electronic devices for children, just games, not even shoes of their size; the shoes that the children had of the stature they spent four years ago, when they arrived,” detail sources close to the investigation.
The local police officers, many of them parents, were impacted to see the reaction of the little ones when they went out to the garden: “They touched the grass, they breathed as if they had not done it before in their life, they saw a snail and were completely fascinated.”
Nobody knows what these children who communicated in English, the mother tongue have done, during the last four years. Little is known, for the moment, of the parents. The investigation continues, in the hands of the Civil Guard, where both remained detained before paying for court. They did not want to declare, assisted by an ex officio lawyer, according to sources of the case. Christian Steffen, appears on the Internet linked to the direction of that pink house in the bucolic tongue of Fitoria, such as “Doctor”, linked to a strange maritime trade company online, created precisely as a result of the Pandemia of the Covid 19. Melissa Ann, there is no trace on the network.
