At first glance, ordinary weeds, which many mow or tear without hesitation, turn into treasures in the spring with surprising force. Daisies, nettle and dandelions are not just a part of the rural idyll, but above all a rich source of substances that literally restart tired skin after the winter.

When spring develops fully, the meadows and gardens are filled with flowers and greenery, which we often pass unnoticed. Daisies, nettle and dandelions – three ordinary plants that few people connect with skin care – they hide exceptional potential. While cosmetic brands spew products with exotic ingredients and complex names, these herbs offer everything the skin really needs after winter: gentle cleaning, nutrition and protection. And what is the best? They grow free in the garden with most of us.

Daisy tonic

Daisy is not just a cute flower from children’s wreaths. The extract from its flowers is valued in natural cosmetics for the ability to lighten pigment spots and brighten dull skin. The easiest way to use its effects at home is to prepare a daisy lotion. Just pour a handful of fresh flowers about 150 ml of hot water, let it infuse for 15 minutes, overape and store in the fridge after cooling. Apply in the morning and evening to the skin with a tampon – the tonic gently pulls the pores and soothes redness.

The nettle, which most people perceive only as a stinged weed, are charged with antioxidants and minerals. It can soothe irritation, withdraws pores and improves blood circulation in the skin. From fresh young leaves you can easily prepare a cleansing tile. Chop a handful of nettle roughly, pour over with hot water, cover and burn for a few minutes. When the mixture cools a little, place the gauze soaked in the brine on the face as a herbal wrap. It has an anti -inflammatory effect and helps in acne skin.

Dandelion mask

Dandelion is not just a symbol of childhood and spring – in the roots and flowers hides substances that promote skin detoxification and fight free radicals. You can make it a nutritious mask: mix fresh flowers, about two tablespoons, with one tablespoon of honey and a little white yogurt. Apply to the skin, leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. The skin will be gentle, bright and beautifully nourished.

“Like other dark leafy vegetables, dandelion leaves are rich in riboflavin, ie vitamin B2, and vitamin A. One cup of dandelion leaves contains almost twice as iron than spinach and more than 500 percent of your daily vitamin K, which can play a role in fighting Alzheimer’s disease.”

These recipes are not just a cheap alternative to expensive cosmetics, but they also bring us back to nature and teach to perceive beauty in simplicity. Just take the basket and go to the garden or meadow. Spring has more for our skin than it seems.
