Drought Monitor of the National Basic Water and Sanitation Agency assigns phenomenon to the continuity of rainfall above average
The recent drought period in February and March was milder in states of the North and Midwest, according to the DA (National Agency for Water and Basic Sanitation). At the same time, the drought was more intense in the Northeast, Southeast and South of the country.

The situation remained stable in 11 states and the Federal District: Alagoas, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Sao Paulo and Sergipe.
