The (Brazilian Bar Association) promises to trigger international human rights courts if the minister, who chairs the first class of (Supreme Federal Court), insists on the order of in future sessions related to the trial of the alleged coup plot.
President of the entity, Beto Simonetti Alfinet Zanin and says the strategy is inspired by the minister himself when he was a lawyer of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
“If the Supreme Court maintains the lawyer’s order to seal by lawyer, the OAB will trigger international human rights courts, as did the then lawyer Cristiano Zanin in one of his cases, with the support of the OAB, who defended his lawyer prerogatives,” says Simonetti.
The decision on the cell phones was made by Zanin on April 22, in a session that analyzed the receipt of the complaint against six accused in the case. The justification was that one of them, the but prohibition that it was filmed or photographed.
The measure generated criticism from the OAB and of lawyers in general, who saw in the gesture violation of their prerogatives.
