Most German citizens are 80 years after the fall of the Nazi regime Concerns about the future of democracy in the country and the outbreak of the Third World War. This stems from a survey of Yougov, which is available to DPA, TASR writes.
According to a survey in which 2000 respondents participated in Up to 64 percent of the Germans think that democracy in the country is at risk, and about 60 percent of respondents see the parallel between the current development and events in the 30th and 40s of the last century.
The return to the authoritative arrangement of a similar Nazi regime is considered possible by 43 percent of respondents. Most respondents, up to 59 percent, are worried that the Third World War could break out in the foreseeable future.
The respondents also asked YouGov on the occasion of the upcoming 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe how they perceive this historical event. Up to 45 percent of the Germans consider the events of 8 May 1945 as a liberation, while as a defeat perceives about 15 percent of the population. More than a quarter of respondents think it is a combination of defeat and liberation.
