Senate authorizes BNDES to hire R $ 2.6 billion in external financing

The Senate approved, on Tuesday (29.br.2025), 2 projects (E) that authorize the (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) to hire, with a guarantee of the Union:

  • an external credit operation of up to US $ 250 million – R $ 1.4 billion – with (Inter -American Development Bank);
  • An external credit operation with Japan International Cooperation Agency, in the amount of up to 30 billion yen – R $ 1.2 billion.

IDB money will be used in the Bid-BNDES program for sustainable and productive recovery of micro, small and medium enterprises. The initiative aims to increase the availability of medium and long term credit for small Brazilian companies, especially after the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Resources will fund investments in vulnerable areas, led by women and sustainability, such as climate -related projects.

According to the Senator (PDT-DF), rapporteur of one of the projects, the goal is to expand access to credit, low interest rates, which is an essential element to foster entrepreneurship, job creation and sustainable economic growth of our country. “I would also like to highlight a very important social cut, because the program [em] Focus essentially benefits businesses led by women, promoting greater gender equity in the business environment ”he stressed Leila.

The operation comprises 2 contracts: one of up to $ 240 million in IDB’s ordinary capital resources and the other up to $ 10 million in Clean Technology Fund resources, especially intended for battery energy storage projects.

According to Planalto information, in addition to promoting economic recovery, the program will contribute to the technological modernization of companies and the encouragement of sustainable practices. Financing seeks to strengthen companies competitiveness, stimulate job creation, and foster investments in innovation and energy efficiency.

Each loan operation to be granted by the program will not be able to exceed the amount of US $ 500,000 or its equivalent amount in reais. The deadlines will be at least 18 months to be fixed by the financial agents based on the specific characteristics of the operation and the payment capacity of the borrower.

Health

The credit granted by the Japanese agency Jica will be used to support investments in the health sector and in micro, small and medium-sized companies (MPME) of various segments, as part of the actions to confront the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic. Up to 12 billion yen (about R $ 480 million) may be destined to the medical and health sector, while up to 18 billion yen (approximately R $ 720 million) will be allocated to MPMES.
