The proposal with a relegation in the format of two extra -league and two SHL teams, which the clubs submitted, accepted the Executive Committee. Extraliga clubs have declared that by approval of this format, the pressure they felt in direct progress and descending will be reduced, opening up space for young players. We believe that they will get more space in the extraleague, which will benefit our youth representations, ” Has made to margo changes Secretary General Miroslav Lažo.
Two worst extraleague teams after the regular season will automatically fall into the relegation. The SHL playoff format will be discussed. After a long time, the number of legionnaires in the highest Slovak competition is also changing. So far, the clubs could put seven foreigners into the competition match, after the new one there will be only six.
“We welcome this arrangement from the clubs. Our intention is to play as many Slovak hockey players as possible in the Slovak Extraliga, who are expanding the base for the Slovak national team. We believe that we will continue to reduce the number of legionnaires in the future,” added Lažo.
