The distinction was attributed by the British tourism magazine, under the 23rd edition of Wanderlust Reader Travel Awardsan initiative that recognizes the destinations most appreciated by travelers from around the world. The results were defined through the direct vote of readers of the publication.

This year’s edition had over 3 million votes, submitted by about 168,000 readers. 22 different categories were analyzed, including countries, cities, islands and regions, allowing a broad global representation of travel preferences.
