The weather changes from this Sunday: next week will be rainy and strong winds

The IPMA placed the entire country under yellow warning due to the aggravation of time from the dawn of Friday, with heavy rain and thunder to first affect the south and then the remaining continental territory.

The Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) warned this Thursday for the aggravation of time on Friday, which will start at dawn in the south, then heading north, until the whole country is under yellow warning.

At 03:00 on Friday, Faro and Beja are under yellow warning due to precipitation, and at 06:00 are the regions of Setúbal and Lisbon, according to information provided today by the IPMA, which points to very cloudy and water-touched sky periods that may be strong and even accompanied by thunderstorms.

Already Évora, Portalegre, Santarém, Leiria and Castelo Branco are on alert yellow from 09:00.

The remaining country is on yellow alert from 12:00, also due to the forecast of more rain. Regarding the state of the sea, meteorologists point to west waves 1.5 to 2 meters on the western coast north of Cape Carvoeiro and southwest waves 2-3 meters on the western coast south of Cape Carvoeiro.

On the south coast, the predictions are from southwest waves with 2 to 3 meters. However, the captain of the Porto do Porto do Funchal launched a warning, based on IPMA information, warning of the possibility of winds and strong maritime agitation in the Madeira archipelago, which are expected to decrease at the end of Friday.

Given these predictions, the captain recommends to avoid walks by sea or in areas exposed to maritime agitation and to maintain “a tight surveillance of vessels”.

“Not practice the activity of playful fishing, especially with the cliffs and cliffs of Arriba often affected by the surrounding the waves, always being aware that under these conditions the sea can easily reach seemingly safe areas” is another of the recommendations of the warning released by the captaincy of Funchal Port.
