Golden -eyed are charming insects with transparent wings and golden eyes. These insects reach body length from 1 to 2 cm and are characterized by intensely green color, which in nature allows them to camouflage among thick vegetation. How can they affect our garden? We suggest why they are considered such useful insects.

Golden -eyed are insects that we often meet in gardens, forests or meadows. It also happens that they fly into our homes. This is due to the fact that they are attracted by light, so on warmer days, they are eager to fly through open windows and doors. However, their presence should not be a cause for concern, because they are not dangerous for people or pets.

Therefore, when they appear in our rooms, we do not have to remove them immediately. Instead, it is better to catch them gently, e.g. in a jar, and then release them outside to ours . Thanks to this, we will not only remove them from our home, but also help our crops, because golden -eyed can be extremely helpful.

Golden -eyed can contribute to an improvement in the condition of the crop in our garden, because they are predatory insects that effectively hunt spider mites, aphids and other pests. According to some sources, larvae of these insects can get rid of up to 450 aphids in two weeks, and adults eat about 1,500 aphids in a month.

What’s more, within your life, i.e. about 1-3 monthsgolden -eyed, eat up to several thousand spider mites. Therefore, they are extremely useful and allow us to limit the use of chemical preparations for pests and reduce the scale of this problem. In addition, their presence in our garden is favorable maintaining a natural ecological balance, thereby increasing biodiversity in the ecosystem.
