Car run over crowd in Germany and leaves at least eight injured

Police said ‘there is no evidence of attack’; Germany security services are on maximum alert after several mass run over that have left fatal victims in recent months

A car ran over a crowd in the city of, in the south of the this Friday (2), and left several people injured. “A car ran over a group of people” in the Olgaeck region in the city center, local police reported in the X, while firefighters explained, in their same platform account, that there are “several wounded, some gravity.” A police spokeswoman told the local newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten that the incident occurred at 5:50 pm local (12:50 pm Brasília) and that at least eight people were injured, three in serious condition. In images from the accident site, you can see a destroyed baby cart. Bild newspaper reported that the testimonies reported that a woman who carried a cart is one of the run over people. According to the German press, the driver of the car was arrested, but no new details were given. Police said “there is no evidence of attack,” and asked population to avoid moving to the Stuttgart Center and warned that traffic problems were recorded.

Germany’s safety services are on maximum alert after several mass run -over that have left fatal victims in recent months, including one in December against a Christmas market in Magdeburg and another in Munich. Stuttgart police reported that this case was a “tragic accident”, which left eight injured and three of them are in serious condition. “According to our current investigations (…), our colleagues at the scene of the facts believe it is a tragic accident,” police said in a statement published in his X account. Firefighters indicated in X that the three seriously injured were taken to the hospital and that the other victims received medical attention at the scene.
