China claims to be “evaluating” US proposals to start trade negotiations, in a tone change that can make way for negotiations.
A china ministry spokesman said in a statement on Friday that “the US recently sent several messages to China through relevant parts, hoping to start negotiations with China. China is currently evaluating this.”
The comments show a slowdown in Beijing’s position, which has been firmly challenging amid the increased tensions with the US due to the tariff war of.
Trump has been repeatedly claimed since last week that his government was in negotiations with Chinese authorities to close a trade agreement – but was received with on all occasions.
On Friday, Beijing reiterated that any negotiation would require the fulfillment of some previews.
“A has begun unilaterally by the US and, if they want to negotiate, they must demonstrate genuine sincerity-which includes being prepared to correct their errors and cancel their unilateral increases in tariffs,” said the spokesman.
Large flows of trade between them are at stake, after Trump increased the rates about China to impressive 145% earlier this month, making it difficult to continue the commercial negotiations of some Chinese companies with the United States.
In response, Beijing increased tariffs on US imports to 125%.
