China will open the highest bridge in the world with 635 meters high

China is about to inaugurate the highest bridge in the world, the Huajiang Grand Canyon, located in Guizhou. This impressive structure, which is expected to be completed in June 2025, will be 625 meters high, almost double the Millau viaduct in France, which still has the highest bridge record.

The bridge, which crosses the Grand Canyon of Huajiang (also known as the “terrestrial slit”), will be a suspended bridge with steel trusses, with a total length of about three kilometers. The project is remarkable not only for the record record, but also for its functionality: it will allow vehicles and trucks to cross the site in just one minute, a significant improvement in the current time of almost two hours.

Steel trusses weigh about 22,000 tons, equivalent to three Eiffel towers. This super project is an example of the strength of the Chinese infrastructure, with the bellies of almost half of the 100 higher bridges in the world.
