PP’s national president, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), defended in an interview with Radio Eldorado on Friday, 2, that former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) indicates this year who should compete in the 2026 presidential election for his political group. The former chief of the federal executive is ineligible until 2030.
Ciro Nogueira stated that the definition would help in the preparations for the campaign if the chosen one is someone who is exercising some term now, such as Governor’s.
In Ciro’s assessment, the definition would only be next year in case of choice of someone in the former president’s family for the dispute.
HAS Eldorado RadioCiro Nogueira also denied the after election of Lula, claiming to have received orders from the former president, as his Minister of the Civil House, to conduct the transition to the new government.
Bolsonaro has been since June 2023 when the Superior Electoral Court ordered the former president for abuse of political power and misuse of the media, for the meeting with ambassadors in which he attacked the country’s electoral system, without presenting any evidence. In October of the same year, he was sentenced once again for abuse of political power during the September 7 holiday in 2022, for using the date to campaign, according to the magistrates.

The president of the PP also announced that it should be presented in the Senate, next week, a request to install a Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to. There is already an application in this regard in the House, but Ciro argues that, in the case of a mixed committee, the installation is mandatory and faster.

Asked if the investigation would also involve the government of Jair Bolsonaro, as the Federal Police investigations point out that there was already a scheme of retirement and pension discounts at that time, the senator said CPMI should investigate “the time it is necessary.”
Ciro also stated to be favorable to the departure of the Lula administration of the four ministers who are from União Brasil and PP. The two parties announced this week the formation of a new federation, called Progressive Union, which will have the largest bench in the House and Senate.
