It announced it on Monday (28) the list of the first 100 state schools that will adopt the model from July 28 this year. The initiative is part of the Civic-Military Schools program, created by Complementary Law 1,398/2024, authored by the state deputy (PL-SP). The project’s creator foresees the implementation of 200 units with this management model by the end of 2026. The first 100 schools are distributed in various regions of the state, including the capital, the metropolitan region, the ABC Paulista, Alto Tietê, Vale do Paraíba and inland municipalities.

“A high number of teaching units showed interest in joining the civic-military method. The first one first schools selected by the state will adopt the methodology as early as July of this. Our expansion perspective, to have up to 2026 plus one more schools in São Paulo, continues on Governador Tarcisio’s agenda [Gomes de Freitas]”, Said Coimbra.

According to the State Department of Education, the pedagogical curriculum will not undergo changes in relation to other schools in the network. The main difference is in disciplinary management, which will be reinforced with the presence of monitors with military formation. The planned investment for hiring these professionals, in this first stage, is R $ 7.2 million.

The decision to expand the number of units with the new model was taken last month, when the state government increased from 45 to 100 the total of participating schools. About 300 units expressed interest and underwent public consultations. The selected hundreds were defined based on this process.

For Deputy Lieutenant Coimbra, who also chairs the Parliamentary Front for the implementation of Civic-Militar Schools in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo, the project advances despite criticism. “Even with so many contrary movements, the state welcomed our proposal and continued with the idea autonomously,” he said.
